Seven years after the fight began, Utah’s ongoing gerrymandering lawsuit has delivered two affirmative and unanimous decisions in favor of voters – setting precedent used recently in New Hampshire and enshrining our right to reform our government through the ballot initiative.
Now the court has ordered the Utah State Legislature to re-draw the Congressional Map following the voter-centered standards of Proposition 4, passed in 2018 by voters, but repealed by the Republican Supermajority legislature.
The success of this fight is just one example of Utah’s political transformation. Whether you care about air quality and the Great Salt Lake or reproductive rights and abortion access, Utah must have a strong political ecosystem at the ready to combat unchecked power and self-serving politicians. We’d like to know what Utah issues most concern you, what gaps you perceive, and how the UDC might help address those concerns.
Join Utah Donor Collaborative in ensuring we have a democratic, representative, and responsive state government. Our investors and state-based, civic engagement partners are foundational to creating and sustaining progressive change in Utah. We are the coordinating organization that brings them all together.
I hope you’ll join us for an evening of drinks, nibbles, and an honest conversation about our progress towards a just Utah – what barriers exist, and what opportunities are available. We welcome you to consider supporting our effort.
